School circles

The municipalities are responsible for the management of the schools. These work together if the organizational framework conditions of a municipality do not allow the independent establishment and management of an upper secondary school and a district school or if cooperation with regard to curriculum-appropriate and economic school operation seems necessary. With the help of the canton, the municipalities and regional planning associations are jointly planning the formation of school districts for upper school centres and district schools (School Act Section 57(1) and (2)). The municipalities can join with other municipalities by means of a contract or association. The municipality or the associations are the school authorities and are each responsible for several school facilities (information facilities). School districts exist for the secondary and secondary school (SeReal) and district school (Bez) levels. There are therefore 2 divisions into school circles, one with SeReal and one with Bez school circles.
