New genome assembly and NGS data of golden hamster

In this project, our purpose is to reveal the PIWI-piRNA pathway in female golden hamsters. We sequenced PIWIL1-associated piRNAs of testis, ovary, MII oocyte and 2-cell embryo and PIWIL3-associated piRNAs of MII oocyte. We also obtained RNA-seq data from hamster testis, ovary and MII oocyte. Moreover, we sequenced genomic DNA of golden hamster by PacBio Sequel and assembled raw reads into contigs using the FALCON genome assembler. To correct assembly errors in the FALCON contigs, we applied the Racon module three times. To obtain a chromosome-scale genome assembly, we aligned all contigs to the 22 golden hamster chromosomes.
