Identification of novel candidate genes for early heading on chromosome 5B in wheat mutant jg1489

This study utilized an early-heading mutant of wheat, jg1489, to construct an F2 segregating population. Through BSA-exon capture sequencing, the chromosomal region harboring the gene affecting heading date was identified. By utilizing an expanded segregating population and dense molecular markers, the early-heading gene was finely mapped. Combining the sequence variations within the mapped region and gene expression analysis, candidate genes for early heading were predicted.
