COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF EXISTENTIAL WORDS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

This article examines the comparative analysis of existential words and constructions in English and Uzbek languages. The study focuses on the structural, semantic, and functional features of existential expressions, particularly the English “there is/are” construction and its Uzbek equivalents “bor” and “yo‘q.” Using descriptive, comparative, and functional methods, the research identifies both similarities and differences in how existence and absence are expressed in the two languages. The findings show that while English relies on a fixed syntactic structure with a formal subject, Uzbek employs more flexible and lexically meaningful forms. The study contributes to the fields of comparative linguistics, syntax, and language teaching methodology by providing insights into cross-linguistic patterns and their pedagogical implications.
