Red raspberry is an important high-value horticulture crop in cool temperate regions. One of the barriers to expanded cultivation is pathogen sensitivity. Genetically controlled disease resistance is increasing in importance as consumers require high-quality fruit without chemical disease control. Genetic maps of raspberry can allow examination of synteny with other Rosaceae with more extensive genomic resources.
