Epidemiology and risk factors of nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus CC398 in two distinct cohorts in France

The epidemiology of methicillin-resistant S. aureus CC398 is known to be mostly linked to livestock, whereas the epidemiology and risk factors of methicillin-susceptible S. aureus CC398 is not well known. We aimed to determine the prevalence of nasal carriage of S. aureus CC398 in the community and among hospitalized patients and to evaluate the factors associated with carriage.
