The complete chloroplast genome of Protea 'Red Rex'

Protea 'Red Rex', a perennial evergreen multi-flowered stem shrub specie of the Proteaceae which has considerable ornamental and medicinal worth, lacked genomic data until now. In this study, its first complete chloroplast genome was presented by us using Illumina sequencing technology successfully. The chloroplast genome, with a total length of 157,895 bp, features a quadripartite structure: a large single-copy (LSC) region measuring 86,427 bp, a short single-copy (SSC) region measuring 18,553 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions spanning 26,457 bp each.
