Mycoplasmoides genitalium strain:Sea1 Genome sequencing. Mycoplasmoides genitalium strain:Sea1

This is a new sequence of a recently isolated strain of Mycoplasma genitalium, named Sea1. Mycoplasma genitalium is a bacterium that causes often long-term STIs in both men and women. The type-strain G37 was isolated in London in 1981 and has been extensively lab-passaged. Sea1 was isolated from a man with nongonococcal urethritis in Seattle in 2010. This sample was sequenced to find differences between it and the M. genitalium type-strain G37. We hope that this new sequence will allow for new drug targets to be found for novel treatments of the STIs that this bacterium causes.
