资源简介:

Morphoscopy of quartz grains is a visual and statistical examination of their shape and general surface characteristics using simple optical tools, e.g. a binocular magnifying glass (5× to 80×), to determine sediment transport processes, depositional environments, and post-depositional processes. The morphoscopy of quartz grains was first fully defined by André Cailleux in 1942. Recent modifications to the original concept of morphoscopy indicate that seven morphoscopic classes of sand-sized (0.35-1.0 mm) quartz grains can be distinguished based on their shape/roundness and surface characteristics. The results include detailed morphoscopic characteristics of quartz grains originating from different sedimentary environments.
