Escherichia fergusonii 24_JM Genome sequencing and assembly. Escherichia fergusonii strain:24_JM

Escherichia fergusonii 24_JM was isolated from a sample of minced beef taken in Colombia. This strain is resistant to colistin and cefotaxime, and able to transfer the beta-lactamic resistance to other Escherichia coli strains. Whole genome sequencing of this isolate revealed the presence of plasmids carrying additional resistance genes. This study support the increasing public health concern considering the spreading of resistance genes through the food chain.
