Event Duration Monitoring - Storm Overflows - 2018/19 (England)

This dataset was aquired under FOI requests submitted to water companies in England by The Guardian. It shows spill frequency and duration for CSOs which have Event Duration Monitoring (EDM) equipment installed. The data were matched to the Environment Agency's consented discharge database to obtain the grid reference locations of the discharges in order to provide recreational river users and those coming in to contact with river water, the best available spatial information on health risks. N.B. Thames Water data were provided as separate discharges rather than categorised spills as per the EA's Spill Count Method and are therefore not directly comparable to other water companies. 2019 data from Northumbrian Water Ltd. were not provided in a format which could be mapped, so we have substituted the 2018 data acquired by an FOI request to the Environment Agency by Channel 4.
