This study aims to perform whole-genome resequencing of Chalara bambusicola, a fungus isolated from an industrial wasteland in Vieux-Charmont, France, by the Chrono-environment laboratory at University Franche-Comte. As part of the EU HORIZON-BIOSYSMO project, the research focuses on understanding the genetic basis for the metal tolerance exhibited by C. bambusicola. Through comprehensive genomic analysis, the study seeks to identify the genes and pathways that enable this fungus to survive and thrive in environments with high levels of heavy metal contamination. The insights gained from this research are expected to contribute significantly to the development of bioremediation strategies and enhance our overall understanding of fungal resilience in extreme environmental conditions.
