资源简介:
This has been an unusual winter in the Eastern Region. Most of our snow has been due to small-scale features rather than large organized storms. On January 10-11 and, again, on January 18-19, up to 8-10 inches of snow were observed from the Appalachians eastward and from Virginia northward. The large-scale features were quite similar-- a long wave trough at 85°-90°W and small vorticity maxima moving rapidly through it. The LFM and MOS showed considerable skill in specifying the snow amounts and precipitation type.
