Seven emblematic drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci were investigated through third generation sequencing technology (Nanopore). In addition, SEM analyses were carried out to visualize the viability of some of the identified microorganisms. The Nanopore generated microbiomes can be used as a biological pedigree of the drawings, offering a kind of fingerprint for current and future biological comparisons.
