3D density and magnetization models of the lunar Dewar region

This website contains the source data of the manuscript Magmatic origin of the Dewar magnetic anomaly: Implications for an early lunar dynamo by Xi Yang et al. that is currently under review. The dataset includes the 3D density and magnetization models of the lunar Dewar region, together with synthetic tests generated using the jif3D joint inversion framework (Moorkamp, 2011; 2022). The dataset contains the recovered models and the forward prediction fileds used to evaluate the inversion results. The inversion uses the lunar magnetic field from Tsunakawa et al. (2015) and gravity residual data derived from the DSP package (Broquet, 2024) covering the Dewar region. Dewar region model Five inversion results obtained with iteratively decreasing coupling weights, ranging from 1e6 to 1e2. The inversion model domain is centered at 3.5°S, 167°E. Synthetic tests Three sets of synthetic experiments corresponding to perfectly overlapping, partially overlapping, and non-overlapping models. The models can be visualized using ParaView or other software that supports NetCDF or VTK formats.
