MicroRNAs and target genes in Musa acuminata subsp. burmannicoides, var. Calcutta 4 during interaction with Pseudocercospora musae

The objectives of this study were to characterize miRNAs in Musa acuminata subsp. burmannicoides, var. Calcutta 4 induced during the incompatible interaction with the important Ascomycete pathogen Pseudocercospora musae, together with a prediction of corresponding target plant host genes. Expression data provide novel insights into the miRNA-mediated defence response and represent a resource for the development of efficient methods for control of Sigatoka leaf spot disease.
