Morella rubra Genome sequencing and assembly

Chinese bayberry (Myrica rubra), one of the subtropical, economically valuable evergreen trees, is widely grown in the south of China. Here, we report a high-quality draft genome sequence of red bayberry (M. rubra). The 289.92-Mb assembled genomic sequence covered 95.05% of the estimated genome, and 26,325 protein-encoding genes are predicted and annotated.This study represents an important advance toward improving yields, resistance and economic traits in M. rubra and provides an invaluable resource for plant genome studies.
