This dataset was collected at the Laboratory of Environmental Technology, Wageningen University &amp; Research in 2024/2025. It is supplementary data for the PhD thesis of A.A.E. Elozeiri and the publication of "Water and co-ion transport across ion-exchange membranes coated with PAH/PSS polyelectrolyte multilayer in electrodialysis and diffusion dialysis”.<br>We investigated the influence of polyelectrolyte multilayer coatings on the transport of water, anions (chloride/sulfate/hydroxide), and cations (sodium/magnesium) across cation-exchange membranes in electrodialysis and diffusion dialysis applications. Polyelectrolyte multilayers were deposited via the layer-by-layer technique on cation-exchange membranes to enhance the membrane selectivity towards monovalent cations over multivalent ones. The applied polyelectrolytes were PAH (poly(allylamine)) as polycation, and PSS (poly(4-styrenesulfonate)) as polyanion. The current-voltage responses of the membranes were characterized using cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry.<br>This research was performed within the framework of the research program AquaConnect, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO, grant-ID P19-45) and public and private partners of the AquaConnect consortium and coordinated by Wageningen University and Research.

Elozeiri博士学位论文及《电渗析与扩散渗析中PAH/PSS聚电解质多层膜包覆离子交换膜的水与共离子传输行为》一文的补充数据。 本研究针对电渗析与扩散渗析应用场景,探究了聚电解质多层膜包覆对阳离子交换膜两侧水、阴离子(氯离子/硫酸根/氢氧根)及阳离子(钠离子/镁离子)传输过程的影响。研究通过层层自组装(layer-by-layer)技术在阳离子交换膜表面沉积聚电解质多层膜,以提升膜对一价阳离子相较于多价阳离子的选择透过性能。所采用的聚电解质包括聚阳离子PAH(聚烯丙基胺,poly(allylamine))与聚阴离子PSS(聚4-苯乙烯磺酸钠,poly(4-styrenesulfonate))。本研究采用循环伏安法与计时电位法表征了膜的电流-电压响应特性。 本研究隶属于荷兰研究委员会(NWO,项目编号P19-45)资助的AquaConnect研究计划,由AquaConnect联盟的公共与私营合作伙伴参与实施,并由瓦赫宁根大学与研究中心统筹协调。
