The main goal of the study is to analyze the dynamic response of a steel frame with a steel shear wall (SSW) and equipped with SMA bolt connections, subjected to cyclic load. The main advantage of the proposed solution is to reduce the risk of future damage or localized failure of steel-framed buildings subjected to dynamic loads, including earthquakes and mining tremors. The proposed method can reduce structural repair costs thanks to minimal structural intervention and shorter construction times.
The data presented concern experimental testing of a steel frame equipped with a SSW of varying thicknesses, which experiences varying residual drift values. Furthermore, standard bolts and SMA bolts were used in the tests.
During the tests, the following values were measured: displacement, force and strain (from a scanner using digital image correlation).
