Monitoring of spatio-temporal habitat occupancy patterns of fish and amphibian species in a lentic aquatic system using environmental DNA

In this study, an integrative sampling design in a lentic system was applied to investigate eDNA patterns of fish and amphibian species by using metabarcoding of two markers at the mitochondrial 12S region. A total of 75 water samples were collected during a five week experiment, in which we monitored the natural community, and included a spiking experiment to assess habitat occupancy patterns and eDNA dispersal rates.
