粉尘气溶胶单个粒子的大小、形貌和化学组成等微观理化特征是决定其吸收、散射太阳辐射能力的关键因素。青藏高原地区是气候变化的敏感区和脆弱区,又是沙尘等气溶胶输送的“转运站”,高原气溶胶-云的相互作用还会对局地和下游天气、气候有重要影响。本数据集借助实验室沙尘模拟风蚀释放、扫描电子显微镜系统,获得青藏高原(柴达木盆地、雅鲁藏布江中上游河谷、羌塘高原)、高原周边(塔里木盆地),及我国北方典型粉尘源区(戈壁沙漠和东北沙地)大气粉尘及含铁矿物的微观图像和关键元素分布等。上述粉尘矿物微观图像和元素组成数据,可为理解高原粉尘单颗粒的微观形貌和化学存在状态,有效评估其气候、环境和健康效应提供直观案例。
The microphysical and chemical properties (e.g., size, morphology, and chemical composition) of individual dust aerosol particles are key factors determining their capacity to absorb and scatter solar radiation. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) is not only a sensitive and fragile region for climate change but also a "transfer hub" for the transportation of aerosols such as dust. Moreover, aerosol-cloud interactions over the plateau exert significant impacts on local and downstream weather and climate. This dataset collects microscopic images of atmospheric dust and iron-bearing minerals, along with distributions of key elements, from sampling sites across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (including the Qaidam Basin, middle and upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River Valley, and Qiangtang Plateau), surrounding areas of the plateau (Tarim Basin), and typical northern Chinese dust source regions (Gobi deserts and northeastern sandy lands) via laboratory-based dust wind erosion simulation and emission experiments and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) systems. The aforementioned microscopic images of dust minerals and elemental composition data provide intuitive case studies for understanding the microscopic morphology and chemical speciation of individual dust particles over the QTP, as well as for effectively evaluating their climatic, environmental, and health impacts.
