Experimental studies on induced seismicity at sudden failure of rock joints

This thesis investigates how earthquakes induced by human activities occur and release energy. Through a series of laboratory experiments, it explores the sudden slip or fracture of rock joints under various stress and impact conditions. Using advanced techniques such as photoelastic imaging, ultrasonic monitoring, and high-speed observation, the study quantifies when and how energy is released during these events. The findings provide new insights into the causes of sudden rock joints failure and offer practical methods to predict and control induced seismic events in underground engineering.
