Experiences of assessing skin changes associated with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in people with dark skin tones: Qualitative interviews with staff

Semi-structured online interviews with clinicians working in the United Kingdom were conducted to explore their experiences of assessing skin changes associated with chronic venous insufficiency and peripheral arterial disease in people with dark skin tones. This theory driven qualitative interview study was guided by the “theoretical domains framework of behaviour change” to identify where behaviour can be enhanced or modified in the assessment of skin changes in people with dark skin tones.
24 clinicians were interviewed (18 nurses, 5 doctors, 1 physiotherapist)
