These 16S rRNA gene sequences and shotgun metagenomic sequences were generated from fecal DNA from the Galapagos penguin. This study uses a metagenomic approach to characterize normal gut diversity and to identify potential health risks in this Endangered species such as gut pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes.
