Belowground plant biomass at Pebble Hill Fire Plots

Root biomass was excavated to 20 cm depth in 36 0.1 m2 plots stratified over replicated plots burned at 1, 2, 3, and 4 year intervals. Belowground plant biomass was extracted from the soil volume, measured for volume, and weighed in different size categories and plant life form groups (pine root, graminoid, woody+forb). Aboveground biomass was also collected and weighed by plant life form group (graminoid, forb, woody). Biomass was also separated into the size classes 1 cm.
