These datasets accompany a paper published in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry titled "Limited evidence of elevated microplastics in lower trophic levels downstream of wastewater treatment plants".
These data include the concentration, shape, colour, size and chemical confirmation of microplastic particles found in environmental samples of sediment, biofilm, effluent and aquatic insect collected from upstream and downstream of eight wastewater treatment plants in the Grand River watershed (Ontario, Canada).
