A hybrid response regulator NisR-CroR was used to identify the regulon and the role of CroR in the opportunistic pathogen E. faecalis. This regulator is easily activated by nisine and triggered the CroR response. Physiological assays show that the construction was effective, and we then used RNA sequencing to identify CroR regulated genes. The resulting expression database allows the identification of genes involved in virulence, antibiotic, and stress response.
