Here, using high throughput sequencing technology, we analyzed the microbial communities of the intestine and faeces from the pygmy sperm whale. Our results indicated markedly different microbial composition of gut microbiome among pygmy sperm whales, baleen whales, yangtze finless porpoise, and human, even at phylum level.
