Appendix to Functional Ecology Editorial “Linking the causes and consequences of phenotypic plasticity”

This Appendix presents raw responses from a global survey of 31 researchers across 15 countries on how phenotypic plasticity is defined and studied. Responses cover a wide range of taxa and biological scales, providing insights into conceptual frameworks such as environment-triggered trait change, reaction norms/G×E interactions, mechanistic/developmental bases, and adaptive/non-adaptive perspectives. The data allow readers to explore the diversity of definitions and approaches while preserving the original responses verbatim.
