A recording in which Mr Wang¹kham² Wang¹su² plays the jaw harp. The recording begins with a brief explanation by Mr Wangsu. He explained that the first harp was the one played by men (wẽ¹pong²) and the second the one played by ladies, which is called daqwẽ¹. He said they are played for enjoyment. The word daq refers to a particular kind of bamboo. The performance of the wẽ¹pong² commences at 1'33" and finishes of 4'11". There follows some more discussion and the performance of the daqwẽ commences at 6'00". There is also audio of this recording at SDM61-nnpkhn20230128_JS_JawHarp-HS_01.wav. Jatwang mentioned that in Chopnu village, in Lower Wancho, boys play the bamboo harp for their girlfriends, and the girl can recognize who is playing what.
