Populations of WT and Mismatch Repair-deficient Escherichia coli were experimental evolved over 900 days with daily transfers. These evolved populations were either transferred with medium (volume: 1uL; dilution factor: 1/10^4) or small (volume: 1nL; dilution factor: 1/10^7) transfer sizes. Time-series whole population genomic sequencing was conducted every 100-days to track the fate of new and persisting mutations. This study sheds light on how microbes evolve under different initial mutation rates and different transfer schemes.
