Phylogenomics and age estimation of Sri Lankan Piper. Piper

Our study focuses on the genus Piper (Piperaceae), with a specific emphasis on the phylogenomics and age estimation of Sri Lankan Piper species utilizing next-generation RAD-seq technology. Although Piper is one of the largest genera globally, there is a notable lack of data concerning South Asian species. We tested the hypothesis that Sri Lankan endemic species have an exclusive common ancestor with Peninsular Indian species and intraspecific divergence of native and cultivated species of Piper is recent.
