Prednisone-IgA nephropathy Data

The present study intends to explore the efficacy and safety of corticosteroids on IgAN with moderate proteinuria by using propensity score matching(PSM).After PSM, 102 IgAN patients with moderate proteinuria (1.0-3.5g/d) and eGFR≥30ml/min/1.73m2 were included in the analysis.With 31.0±21.9 months of follow-up, the treatment group presented much lower time-average proteinuria (0.46±0.34 vs. 0.91±1.13 g/d, P<0.05) and better renal survival (21.6% vs. 9.6%, P<0.05) than the control group. Multivariate COX regression revealed that not treated with prednisone (OR=4.3 [95%CI,1.34-13.9]; P=0.013) were independent risk factors for the composite renal endpoint. There was no significant difference of either serious adverse events (SAE) or adverse events (AE) between the two groups. In summary, compared with supportive therapy, prednisone could effectively reduce proteinuria and improve renal prognosis without more adverse effects, suggesting the beneficial role of prednisone in IgAN with moderate proteinuria. However, a large-scale, long-term follow-up multicenter randomized controlled study is needed to verify the relevant results.
