Datasets for Manure Projections in Latvia: Challenges and Potential for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Two data sets have been created. One data sheet is actual data for 2010-2023 and cover: 1) the number of animals in the relevant year - total cattle, including dairy cows and beef cattle in different age groups, sheep, goats, pigs - in different age groups, poultry - broilers and laying hens, as well as other animal groups that are typical for Latvia, thousand heads; 2) milk yield per cow - kg per year. These indicators are used in the LASAM model to prepare forecasts of possible animal populations until 2050. The LASAM (Latvian Agricultural Sector Analysis Model) methodology and the calculation algorithm for projections are available here: https://doi.org/10.3390/agriculture12050705. The second data sheet is projected data for 2024-2050, which was obtained from the LASAM, November 2024 version.
