This bacterial strain was isolated as part of a study aimed towards applying in situ microbial cultivation to certain marine sponges. The sponge-derived bacteria were screened for production of new secondary metabolites and RKMC-009 was studied in detail for its ability to produce a novel N-acyl amino acid.
