资源简介:
It appears that in October 1899 when the possibility of plague appearing in New South Wales became evident, the minutes of the Board back to January 1897 dealing with that disease were extracted, typed and pasted into this volume. In September 1900, with the epidemic under control, extracts from the minutes for the previous year were made in the same way, and from 25 September the minutes of the Board relating to the plague were inserted in the volume after every few meetings. This practice was continued until 30 June 1908.These minutes naturally deal with every aspect of the fight against the disease from the point of view of the health authorities. Also included in the volume are the reports of an interview between the President and a Captain Tait (apparently in charge of ship fumigation); an article by J Ashburton Thompson on the "Management of Epidemic Plague"; a summary of the 1902 outbreak; undated "Instructions to Sanitary Inspectors for the Disinfection of Premises" with a sample of the inventory from to be used; a copy of a direction regarding the treatment of "Plague Patients in Good Circumstances", and a copy of the report of the Intercolonial Conference on the plague of April 1900.A large section of pages has been cut from the volume (pp.292-557) but there is no indication from the index as to their contents.(5/5855). 1vol.NoteThis description is extracted from the Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales. 3rd edition, 2000.
