资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, except that the earliest enrolments entered in this volume, a group of five boys and eight girls, appear in no particular order, and in the same handwriting, from which it is evident that these entries were all made at the same time. The earliest date of admission within this group is “2/39” (i.e. February, 1939); the latest, “1/45”. This group of entries, therefore, was made retrospectively in 1945. Evidence from the school’s Observation Book confirms that the school was not supplied with an Admission Register until 1945. [1]Down to the end of 1957, entries are numbered consecutively in a single sequence. Thereafter separate sequences for boys and girls begin anew each year. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school is also recorded; this last column is also used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Endnote: [1] Upper Allyn School Observation Book (1/6986), pp 2, 5.
