Measurements of grass functional traits and community composition from Marin County, CA, April-May 2017.<br>There are three CSV files. They are linked by the Site-Plot combination. The first describes grass trait measurements, the second describes the location and environment at sampling locations and the third is a community matrix with abundance measures for all species in 5x5m vegetation plots at these locations. Not all trait measurements are associated with sampling plots, and not all sampling plots have trait measurements.<br><br>Field description:<br>Site: Text description of the open space reserve where the sample was collected<br>Species: Text: species binomial (following Jepson manual)<br><br>Plot: Text: A plot identifier, which combined with Site constitutes a unique identifier for a sampling location. Information on these locations is contained in the Marin 2017 sampling locations.csv file.<br>Date: Sampling date<br>Latitude and Longitude: The coordinates of the sampling location<br>Soil: Text: Description of the soil texture<br><br>Bare.ground, Thatch and Rock: Field percent cover estimates of bare ground, dead thatch and rock.<br>Slope, aspect: Numeric: measured in degrees, the topographic slope and aspect. <br>Soil: Text: Soil type description<br><br>AP: Numeric: Annual precipitation (mm) from PRISM climate data.<br>MAT: Numeric: Mean annual temperature (C) from PRISM.<br>TS: Numeric: Temperature seasonality (C) from PRISM.<br>ID: Text: An individual plant identifier. Combined with Site and Plot constitutes a unique identifier for an individual grass.<br>Area: Numeric: The area of a leaf (cm2)<br>Height: Numeric: The height of the plant (cm)<br>Width: Numeric: The width of a leaf (mm)<br>Length: Numeric: The length of a leaf (cm)<br>Thick: Numeric: The thickness of a leaf (mm)<br>Mass: Numeric: The dry mass of a leaf (g)
