资源简介:
Rubel Castle letterhead printed with castle illustration on imitation parchment style paper by Sally McHann and a short, inaccurate description of the history of the Rubel Castle clock. The tower referred to in Rochester is the Bausch and Lomb headquarters.THE RUBEL FARMS CLOCK TOWERThe Seth Thomas clock was commissioned for the Rochester New York Tower in 1890. It was to be installed in 1895 when electricity was brought through the east coast making weight driven and hand wound clocks obsolete for towers. Because Seth Thomas had just developed and started building tower clocks there were very few made. There were only six built like ours. An electric system was installed in 1896 for the Rochester Tower and our clock was placed in storage for eighty five years when we were able to locate it and bring it to Glendora. The bells were cast in Saint Louis in 1895 and have been in storage with the clack all these years. Their tone matched anything in Europe and are solid bronze. We started building the clock tower in 1964 and then discontinued work in 1969. After acquiring the tower works in 1980 we were able to complete the tower. We hope everyone will enjoy hearing the bells for years to come.A photocopied happy face ends the history lesson.
