Hereditary hearing genes

This is a list of genes which, when mutated, underlie hearing impairment in humans and/or in mice. At the time of compilation, it included all genes listed in the Hereditary Hearing Loss Homepage (https://hereditaryhearingloss.org/) and genes which, when mutated, result in altered hearing thresholds in mutant mice, reported by the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (https://www.mousephenotype.org; average thresholds were individually checked for shifts >10dB with small standard deviations). Mouse and human genes described in the literature and in published conference abstracts have also been included. References are given for each gene. Previous versions of this list have been published as supplementary tables in (eg) Lewis et al, 2022 and Lewis at el, 2023.This is an ongoing project, and information about novel hereditary hearing genes would be much appreciated.
