Layer definitions based on morphometric measurements of layer boundaries in bright field images.

Numbers correspond to lower borders of the corresponding layer. Cortical thickness was normalized (0, pia; 1, white matter) and presented ±SD. Italic numbers preceded by tildes indicate approximate borders where cytoarchitectonic distinctions were not strongly evident. We note that these measurements for vM1 were made at the mid-flexure (Figure 6B). The upper layers are relatively more expanded at more lateral locations.
