Gene database of Sulfolobus islandicus M.16.4

<i>Sulfolobus islandicus</i> is an archaeal thermoacidophile that thrives at low pH and high temperature environments. Encapsulated with a proteinaceous S-layer, the microbe is thought to be of importance in our understanding of the evolution of eukaryotic life. This work sought to provide fundamental information about the genetic repertoire of <i>S. islandicus</i> M.16.4 by parsing its annotated genome sequence downloaded from Genbank. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene sequence, the resource should find use in functional genomics studies seeking to understand functions of less-often-encountered genes different from those of bacteria.
