资源简介:
Motion of the skull of a fin whale in a sound field
Article Source: Fin Whale Sound Reception Mechanisms: Skull Vibration Enables Low-Frequency Hearing Cranford TW, Krysl P (2015) Fin Whale Sound Reception Mechanisms: Skull Vibration Enables Low-Frequency Hearing. PLOS ONE 10(1): e0116222. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0116222
Animations of the vibration of the skull are shown for four frequencies: 100, 250, 1000, and 2500 Hz.
Excitation is a steady-state (harmonic) planar wave impinging on the skull head on.
The motion as a rigid body is subtracted from the overall motions, leaving only the deformations (in a moving frame). Amplitude of the deformations magnified 20,000 times.
