Spatially interpolated meteorological datasets for the Pilbara region of north-western Australia

This dataset has been produced using observation data from 48 weather stations located in the Pilbara region of north-western Australia. Weather stations maintained by both the Bureau of Meteorology and Rio Tinto were included in data surface production. Data has been interpolated at 0.01° resolution across this area for the purposes of open water evaporation modelling. The dataset spans the 10-year period between 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2023. The key parameters in the dataset are average daily vapour pressure, average daily wind speed at 2m height and average daily air temperature. The dataset also includes 0.01° resolution estimates of solar radiation which have been derived by resampling the 0.05-degree resolution Scientific Information for Land Owners (SILO) database (Jeffrey et al., 2001). Resampling to 0.01° resolution was undertaken using nearest neighbour resampling.
