Enzymatic depletion ofl-Met using an engineered human enzyme as a novel therapeutic strategy for melanoma

Many cancers, including melanoma, have a higher requirement forl-methionine in comparison with noncancerous cells. In this study, we use a multiomics approach to show that administration of an engineered human methionine-?-lyase (hMGL) significantly reduced the survival of both human and mouse melanoma cells in vitro. Overall design: Six independent cell cultures of ATCC melanoma cell line A375 were prepared, three treated with hMGL for 24?h ("Treated") and the other three left untreated ("Control").
