Genomic DNA was extracted from whole gut homogenate created from native New Zealand Tree Weta (Hemideina thoracica). Prokaryote/eukaryote ribosomal markers amplified using universal primers. Amplicons were then sequenced using Roche 454 Pyrosequencing.
