Metagenomic analysis of sediment samples from the Gulf of Gdansk, Baltic Sea

As part of the interdisciplinary project aimed at describing the biogeochemistry of methane bearing shallow marine sediments of the Gulf of Gdansk, Baltic Sea, the Procaryota fraction of microbial community inhabiting sediments was analysed by means of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. A total of 12 samples from chosen depths of sediment cores collected at 5 stations (MET1-MP, MET1-BH, MET2, MET3, ZGG) were included in the study. All the research stations were located in deepwater area (>50 m water depth) of the Gulf of Gdansk. The MET1-MP and MET1-BH stations were the pockmark sites with infiltrating freshwater.
