资源简介:
A total of 24 charcoal samples from sites CA-DNO-26 and CA-DNO-333 in the Redwood National and State Parks of northern California were submitted for identification. The study area is located in Tolowa ancestral territory. Archaeological excavations in this area are part of a long-range research program investigating prehistoric settlement and adaptation in the North Coast of California. Charcoal samples from CA-DNO-26 and CA-DNO-333 were identified to provide information concerning woods burned as fuel by the site occupants and to avoid dating redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). AMS radiocarbon dates were obtained for nine of the charcoal samples from CA-DNO-26. Two bone samples also were submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating; however, insufficient amounts of the organic fraction remained in the bone to obtain an age.
