Tabourie Lake artificial breach data

Note that the data is described in detail within the thesis "Dynamic Modelling of Coastal Lagoon Entrance Opening Processes", by David Wainwright, 2013.

The data included here includes that collected by the Author, and colleagues at the University of Queensland on 13th February, 2008. Associated data, comprising the time series of recorded ocean water levels, and water levels inside Lake Tabourie during the breach is held by Manly Hydraulics Laboratory, on behalf of the NSW Government's Office of Environment and Heritage (www.mhl.nsw.gov.au).

There are two files:

1. A zipped tarball containing GIS terrain model files (MapInfo and GeoTIff file formats, to Projection MGA56, and Australian Height Datum). These terrain models are based on total station snapshot surveys, primarily of the top and bottom of banks during the course of the breach, augmented by pre-breach survey and interpretation of still photographs captured during the event. The base of the channel is not well resolved, and users should be aware of this limitation. A discussion of the likely errors is provided in the above mentioned thesis.

2. A comma separated values (.csv) file containing water level measurements (reduced to AHD) from temporary recorders and surface current speed values measured as described in the above thesis. All times are to Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
