Predicting marital satisfaction based on self-compassion and attachment to God: The mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation

This dataset was collected in 2024–2025 as part of a fundamental descriptive-correlational study investigating the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation in the relationship between self-compassion and attachment to God with marital satisfaction among married men and women in Hamedan, Iran. A total of 454 married individuals (291 women, 163 men) participated, selected via convenience sampling. The data were collected using validated scales: the Self-Compassion Scale (Raes et al., 2011), the Attachment to God Scale (Ghobari Bonab & Haddadi Kouhsar, 2011), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Garnefski & Kraaij, 2006), and the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire (Hudson, 1992). Data analysis involved Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling (SEM) using SPSS 27 and JASP 0.18.3.0. The dataset includes variables reflecting total self-compassion, total attachment to God, adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and marital satisfaction scores. The dataset is fully anonymized with no personally identifiable information and can support replication, meta-analyses, and further research in psychology of religion and marital satisfaction.
